Root Canal Treatment Case 6
Main Complaint
Gum swelling persisted despite root canal treatment
Treatment Period
Treatment period: 3 months Observation period: 1.5 years
Doctor's Suggestion
The patient visited our clinic after retreatment of the upper right 4th tooth (second tooth from the right) did not resolve the issue. Our examination revealed that the cause was necrosis of the nerve in the upper right 5th tooth (third tooth from the right). We performed standard root canal treatment on the upper right 5th tooth.
The patient also reported discomfort in the upper right 6th tooth, where we found a hole on the side of the tooth with a broken instrument remaining. We removed the broken instrument and performed root canal treatment. (The instrument remaining in the bone was not a source of infection, and since symptoms completely disappeared, we chose observation over surgery.) The patient has shown good progress during the 1.5-year follow-up period.
